Nexstream Expands Rural Broadband with $77.5M BOOT II Grant

Bringing High-Speed Internet to
Underserved Texans

Big news for rural Texas! Nexstream has been awarded $77.5 million through the Texas BDO BOOT II grant to expand broadband access in Edwards County. This project will bring over 1100 miles of fiber to serve 2,724 homes, businesses, and community spaces, reinforcing Nexstream’s mission to bridge the digital divide and provide reliable, high-speed Internet to underserved areas.

Why This Matters

Broadband isn’t just about faster speeds—it’s about opportunity. Reliable Internet access supports:

✅ Education – Helping students access online learning resources.

✅ Healthcare – Enabling telemedicine and remote healthcare services.

✅ Business Growth – Empowering small businesses and entrepreneurs.

✅ Workforce Development – Creating jobs and supporting rural economies.

“This grant is a testament to Nexstream’s unwavering dedication to bridging the digital divide and investing in the communities we serve,” said Hilory Parker, Nexstream COO. “We are excited to bring fiber-fast connectivity to Texans who need it most, while reinforcing our commitment to local innovation and economic growth.”

Expanding Our Texas Footprint

Nexstream is growing beyond the Texas Hill Country, already holding 56 licensed wireless spectrum areas across 18 counties. By integrating fiber infrastructure with wireless technology, Nexstream ensures that even hard-to-reach areas can benefit from high-speed Internet.

With the deployment of this project, Nexstream aims to deliver future-proof infrastructure that aligns with emerging Smart community initiatives. These efforts will enhance economic opportunities, improve quality of life, and ensure rural Texans benefit from reliable, high-speed Internet access.

Investing in Local Communities

This project isn’t just about technology—it’s about people.

  • Nexstream is investing $9.47 million in local matching funds for the Edwards County expansion.
  • Construction will create jobs and stimulate economic growth in rural Texas.
  • New broadband infrastructure will ensure long-term connectivity for residents and businesses.

Digital equity and inclusion are at the heart of this expansion. Rocksprings, Texas—the largest city in Edwards County and known for its ranching heritage—will benefit from increased broadband access, improving connectivity for homes, businesses, and community services.

What’s Next?

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, bringing life-changing connectivity to thousands of homes, businesses, and public institutions. Stay updated as we expand broadband across Texas.
